January "Book Report"

I read a record number of books this month (considering my one-a-week goal) and I’m thinking it must be because of my New Year’s resolution to read for an hour a day before touching my computer. (I’d already been reading an hour or more each evening.) Some books were short, but one was extra long so it all evens out.

Mother Theresa’s Secret Fire – my review here.
Gossamer by Lois Lowry
Knee-Knock Rise by Natalie Babbitt
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley – my review here.
Aesop’s Fables – my review here.
The Count of Monte Cristo – to be highlighted next week.
Elements of Style by Strunk and White – I LOVED this book and will write on it soon.
The Year of Miss Agnes by Kirkpatrick Hill – This is an endearing story of a school teacher in a one-room school house. It takes place in Alaska in the 1940’s and gives a wonderful look at the way the people lived and the difference one teacher made in the lives of her students. Don’t be put off by the fact that it’s a children’s book. It will touch your heart.
