Why else do we read fiction? Not to be impressed by somebody's dazzling language - or at least I hope that's not our reason. I think that most of us, anyway, read these stories that we know are not "true" because we are hungry for another kind of truth: The mythic truth about human nature in general, the particular truth about those life-communities that define our own identity, and the most specific truth of all: our own self-story. Fiction, because it is not about somebody who actually lived in the real world, always has the possibility of being about ourself.
What do you think? Agree? Disagree?

Wow, beautiful quote. Thanks for posting it!
Yes,I agree with you. I read fiction because I need to learn from others.I want to see how others cope with the similar difficulties that I met, even though the story is not true. While I think fiction is not totally untrue for the story reflets the experience and knowledge of the author. If one hasn't experience the similar situation, one can't write a story. So actually, I intent to learn from the authors--learn how to love, how to be strong, how to be success and how to appreciate the world.
