What Would You Want to Read While Marooned on a Deserted Island?

Abe books ask this age old question this week. (This link will take you to a short youtube video, but if you scroll to the top of the page you'll see the article and various book suggestions.) I'm glad they throw in The Bible and Shakespeare as givens, because you could definitely spend years reading those.  As for my other choice, it would have to be Jane Eyre since it's been my favorite comfort "food" for decades now.

What about you?

Jane Eyre is an excellent choice. I'm struggling to come up with my own desert island book right now - Ann Patchett's Bel Canto feels like it *should* be read on a desert island...

Hmmm... tough question. I'd probably have to say Cormac McCarthy's "The Road", as it is my favorite book; perhaps even a giant collection of Ray Bradbury's short stories.

Then again, Defoe's Robinson Crusoe would both entertaining *and* practically useful. :)

Hmmm, I love Jane Eyre, (and am glad to find someone else who likes it!) but am not sure I would want it with me on an island... Guess I will have to think on that one! :)

(I found your blog through Corey P.) :D

Aside from the Bible and Shakespeare, I would have to say that I would want to have either my collection of Spurgeon's Sermons as my nonfiction choice, and the Circle Series, Ted Dekker's only actually somewhat Christian work. I guess I can't pick just one. :-)
